Sargent's Dorothy Vickers

I always find the work by John Singer Sargent very inspiring. His loose style, yet in absolute control of the medium.

I saw some of his paintings in National Portrait Gallery and Tate Britain. I can't help visiting the gallery every time I get a chance to go to London.

I spent the entire day on this painting. Oil on canvas. No tracing. I aimed for the spot then put the paint on the right place. If it's the wrong place, then I just scrape the paint off with a palette knife completely, then try again, until I get it right eventually. Just want to get the feeling of how he might have achieved this wonderful portrait. Sargent probably spent only an hour on it. Genius.
